Associate Professor Stephan Winter is leading a research team of linguists, computer scientists, and spatial information scientists to try and bridge the gap in the way we explain locations to our friends and how we type descriptions into mapping services such as google maps or in-car navigation services.

Engineering at Unimelb New Master of Engineering Scholarships

In 2011 we will offer up to 56, $10,000 scholarships to suitably qualified local and international applicants to the Master of Engineering. Scholarships will be awarded in two categories: Merit and Access.

Stephan winter Assoc Professor Stephan Winter joint winner of Best Paper at AGILE 2010

Martin Raubal (UCSB) and Stephan Winter won Best Paper Award at the 13th AGILE International Conference on Geographic Information Science 2010. . The paper is titled "A Spatio-Temporal Model Towards Ad-Hoc Collaborative Decision-Making".

Associate Prof Abbas Rajabifard's keynote plenary talk about “Spatially Enabled Society” at the FIG (International Federation of Surveyors) Congress 2010 in Sydney, was selected "Article of the month". The article was one of 800 papers presented at the conference, which had more than 2,000 people attending from 100 countries.
Cliff Ogleby University Teaching Award to Cliff Ogleby
Senior Lecturer in Geomatics, Cliff Ogleby, is the 2010 recipient of the Edward Brown Teaching Award. The award recognises excellence in teaching for the discplines of Architecture, Engineering, Economics & Commerce and Business. Cliff receives a grant supporting an academic project in teaching or research.

Accreditation for Geomatics Masters courses Associate Professor Stephan Winter is proud to announce that the Master of Engineering (Geomatics) and the Master of Spatial Information Science have recently been accredited by the Royal Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
