Master of Applied Science in GIS (by coursework)

 

Duration

Overseas (and full-time local) students will complete the course in three semesters (note that Australian immigration requirements restrict part-time study to local students), while part-time local students may complete the course over a three-year period with approval from the course coordinator.

Intake

The intake for the course will normally be in Semester 1 of each year, however mid-year entry may be arranged with approval from the course coordinator;

Course Structure

Students are required to complete 150 points of study, and must take greater than 50 points of coursework (34%) and the remainder by research (students normally take two semesters of coursework and one semester of research);

Entry Requirements

  • the minimum entry requirement is a 4-year undergraduate degree at honours level, however consideration may be given to applicants holding other qualifications and relevant industry experience

NOTES:

  • students will normally take two units (50 points) of the subject 451-612 Research Project for the MAppSc by coursework and four units (100 points) for the MAppSc by research (taking it over the Summer Semester requires the approval of the course coordinator);
  • students may also choose relevant GIS-related electives (with approval of the course coordinator) taught by other Departments and Faculties;
  • the right is reserved to cancel any postgraduate 600-level subject if insufficient enrolments are received (in which case alternative arrangements will be made to meet student needs).
