Shamsul Izhan Abdul Majid

Photo Research Topic: Development of a Multi-Purpose Cadastre Prototype

Research Interest: Dissemination of data through the Internet, web-based systems, hardware and software understanding of World Wide Web Systems, computer hardwares, computer games !

Shamsul was born in Ipoh, Malaysia and came to Melbourne on a scholarship in 1995. Shamsul completed his degree in Geomatics at the University of Melbourne in 1998. For his final year project, he developed a system for Melbourne commutors using Java and the Internet. Titled The Met On The Internet, it won the Institution of Surveyors, Australia Excellence Award for 1998. He has worked in several organisations in Australia; namely Land Information Council, Bathurst, NSW Fisheries Research Institute and the Surveyor-General's Office, Victoria.

Shamsul is currently undergoing his Master of Geomatics Engineering by Research, focussing on the development of online systems. His current research is funded by LandVictoria, Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

He has tutored and demonstrated in various Geomatics-related subjects as well as actively involved in the Department's Discovery Day, Mentoring Scheme and was one of the organisers of the Engineering Residential Summer School.

He is also a graduate member of the Institution of Surveyors (ISA) and the Australian Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (AURISA).

Oh, and yes - He is LOOKING a job !
