  1. What is land? Discuss its different roles and why they are important.
  2. Compare and contrast the following:
  1. ‘fixed’ and ‘general’ boundaries
  2. systematic and sporadic adjudication of land rights
  3. cadastral surveying and cadastral mapping

Give an example of each in one jurisdiction.

  1. Distinguish between ‘upgrading’ and updating’ Digital Cadastral Databases. Give two examples for each of the processes of update and upgrade. Why should a distinction be made between the two processes?
